The shortest way to go where you want to be and to get back requires you to navigate. Navigation is a requirement for participation is a whole range of activities. Search & recovery is not possible without. Photography works a lot better if you don’t waste time getting to the best spots. This course teaches you the skills that are needed to get more our of every dive. The minimum age for participation is 12. You must be a certified diver. To complete this course, you should calculate two days.
The first dive is used for basic navigation techniques for maintaining direction and measuring distance. You will try a variation of techniques in order to figure out which will work best for later course segments and for any dives you make in the future. In dive two you use instruments to swim more complicated patterns with the goal that at any time you know where you are and where you are going.
Dive three is dedicated to making a map of an underwater site. The idea is that you provide other navigation-certified divers with the information they need to enjoy the same dive. Communication between divers allows us to share experiences. The skill to make an accurate underwater map is meant to keep your best dives on file for future use and to trade them with other divers in return for their data on their favorite dive sites.
Your instructor will want a completed medical statement from you. In some regions a medical statement with only “no” answers will be sufficient for participation in the course. In other regions a medical signed and stamped by a medical doctor will be required and must unconditionally say that you are fit for diving.
